Give me a chance to see if I like you or not...
I hate being forced to like Facebook pages. It makes me mad. Facebook and social media are social and should be treated, in someway, like a relationship. You should give what you want and you should never force anyone to do anything. You should never manipulate the other person, abuse them or make use of them. You only really like someone after spending time together - maybe a couple of dates or...

Your externalities are golden but your core...
I’m a bit fed up with people, clients and businesses who aren’t the top brass in their industry, yet think that they can get to the top and become a somebody simply by doing, externally, what their role models are doing. Why do they think they can get to the top simply by changing a few externalities? Just like taking spectacular photos of an old banged up car won’t make your car look any newer or...

Simple design
I’ve recently realised the importance of simplicity in design. I’ve been involved in the web design scene/profession for almost 3 years now, and the importance of design, usability and information architecture is now blindingly important. I’ve seen and been apart of website designs that are far too complicated, far too long, have far too much visual mess (even though it looks...

Heim Website →
I launched a super simple, order-online, site for this company called Heim. I did their logo, their site design & coding, their photography - their everything. It took me about 6 months in after dinner time (spare time) to complete it all. I’m still improving it daily.

Sacred writings
So there’s this book. Within it lies the source of life. Wisdom and secrets abound from within it. I am not selfish, so let me share it. I am not ashamed of it, so let me tell you about it. It’s an introduction to the creator of the universe and a comprehensive guide to living. Who would not read it? Yet it has become common. Yet it is sacred still. The words within are rich and...

Let the best idea win
If everyone was humble, wise and understanding, we’d all know when an idea was set to rock the world and we’d give way to it, moving our own precious ideas out of the way so that the one idea set for greatness could breathe, be exposed, be improved upon and ultimately rock the world. This is not the case though. Most of us love our own ideas, and are our proud and unperceptive. We...

You can't buy minimalism
So you think that new iPod docking station will solve your iPod, iPhone, hi-fi, CD, radio issue? It might. “And it will be super-minimalistic too.” Minimalism is not just having less, it’s also buying less. Not buying that new bike if you have one. Not to buying that new iPod dock if you can already use cables and your existing hi-fi. When faced with a buying new situation...

Tumblr - the sweetest home screen I've seen. →
Tumblr has the most amazing home page when you’re not signed up, or not logged in. The animation is amazing, the interface design is slick, the buttons big, the content resizes and animates differently depending on your screen size and it changes as you resize your window. It just looks so sweet and lovely. Well done Tumblr dudes, or whoever did the CSS & Javascript. It’s amazing....

Consumerism will consume you
I was effectively given an iPhone awhile ago & all of a sudden I wanted an iPad. How stupid is that? And now I don’t. If you buy one thing, then there is hardly an excuse to not buy something else, especially if you can, or you think you can, afford it. Rather don’t. Rather wait, and you’ll see that you don’t need it, that you can live without it, that it might be...

Can we please be passionate?
You know when companies take a long while to get back to you or never do, or when the product you ordered just sucks, or when the cool product you bought keeps breaking, or when people just don’t give a shit about what they’re doing - like web designers and developers who say that ‘it can’t be done’ when it clearly can. That stuff makes me so mad. I would love to see...

How to start working for the poor
Working for the poor has its merits. I think that a lot of people want to work for the poor. It’s just that I and everyone else have no idea where any money to live will come from. I have to work on that. It’s relatively easy to work a normal job, whether you’re the owner or you’re employed. Things are fairly predictable, except when they’re not. Working for the poor...

A critique of cycling to work in Durban
It’s hot. You get sweaty - very. Or wet - very. I’ve only been cycling for about am onth, and it is summer. There are hills, some steep, some not so, but If you ride uphill on the way to work, like I do, you get to ride downhill on the way back from work. You feel super good about yourself, you save petrol, you get to smell some amazing and some awful smells, you get to greet people...

What if I stopped working for the rich?
And what if I started working for the poor? What if I used my talents, my abilities, everything that I’m good at for someone else, not for me and not for someone who clearly doesn’t need help like others do? Imagine if all creative and advertising people in the world worked together to fight poverty, hunger, disease, abuse, slavery, racism, sexism etc. We all fight for something. Why...

2011
So it’s sometime into the year already, but I’ve been trying to catch up at work, we’ve had no net in our new place and I’ve been on holiday, so I haven’t been willing or even inclined to touch my Mac. So here goes. 2011 is the year of minimalism, the year of wisdom, knowledge & getting to know Durban better. I’ll be keeping good record of what I do this year....

Mario The Movie
When is Mario the movie coming out? You know - mushrooms, princesses, banging heads on boxes. I mean, Prince of Persia is a lot younger than Mario, but it has already been made into a movie. So when is someone going to make it? I want it to be made, do you? * Update : There is a Mario movie, old one at that.

There goes alot of what wasn't really there
I deleted a lot of my facebook friends - from over 300 to 93. I might have been a little bit too ruthless. I removed them if we haven’t made contact in a long while, with the exception that they were now living overseas, or if they were family. It felt great. And what I realised is that having all of these ‘friends’ but never really contacting them is just a waste of life, space...
